Quality and Humanity in Health

Southland Hospital is one of the very few hospitals in New Zealand that offers free parking on the hospital campus.  We are also fortunate to have meter-free parking along Kew Road and Elles Road, which are both a short walk from the hospital. Kew Road has P120 parking limits between 0800-1630 weekdays. Please note the hospital's visiting hours and we remind all patients and visitors that all hospital buildings, carparks and grounds are smokefree. If you wish to smoke, you must go off-site (out onto the street) to do so.

More detail regarding parking is provided below, including disability parking on the Southland Hospital campus (refer to the box further down this webpage).

Hospital Main Entry Patient/Visitor Drop-Off Zone: Vehicles are able to drive up at to the front entrance of Southland Hospital to drop off patients or visitors at the main entrance door (under a covered entrance area) before finding a park in the carpark.  Wheelchairs are also available inside the front entry for people who need assistance in getting around the hospital. Drop-off zones are for a maximum of 5 minutes only.

Taxis: Taxis and the DisAbility Resource Centre (DRC) Van are able to collect and drop off people right outside the main entrance of the hospital in the main entry drop-off zone. There is no taxi stand at the hospital, however there is a free-taxi telephone located in the foyer of the hospital. People can call for a taxi free of charge (or ask a staff member to assist you) and take a seat in the warmth of the hospital foyer. The telephone in the main foyer can also connect people directly to the DisAbility Resource Van service free of charge.
