Description

Our Emergency Department is a Level 4 care provider, managing all emergencies, including stabilisation and ventilation, and treats approximately 36,000 patients annually.  You will be a keen ACEM trainee or interested in learning more about providing emergency care to our community.

A specific role within the ED Registrar team exists for senior ACEM trainees who still need some Anaesthesia time under their belt. This role, split between Anaesthesia and ED, is for a period of 6 months.  Please indicate in your application if you would like to be considered for this.

You will be interested in further developing your career in emergency medicine and so time spend in our ED will mean you will be exposed to a first rate teaching programme run by dedicated Consultants who will also work closely with you.

Located in the lower South Island, Southland offers a wide range of recreational activities.  It is home to two of New Zealand’s national parks offering opportunities for tramping, internationally acclaimed fishing, hunting, climbing and a wide range of outdoor pursuits.  You have an abundance of choice for skiing with four ski fields within easy driving distance.  Invercargill is a family friendly city with excellent educational and sporting facilities.

As a minimum requirement, you will have a minimum of 2 years post graduate medical experience and preferably some experience as an ED Registrar.  Please state your start date availability in your application.
