Description

Information Security Officer

  • Looking for that next challenge?
  • A rare opportunity to shape this role
  • Dunedin or Invercargill based

Here at Southern DHB, we’re undergoing significant transformation, as we work towards the goal of becoming a clinically and financially sustainable organisation, supporting our district.  We’re working very hard to provide high quality health and disability services so we’re highly focused on bringing in the right people with the appropriate experience and skills, to turn our strategic goals into reality.

In this newly established role as Information Security Officer you’ll get the chance to lead the DHB into a security focused future state. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up and one you don’t want to pass up on.

You’ll be responsible for not only working hands on undertaking monitoring, overseeing external vendors and reviewing log files, but also having a large strategic component to your role including planning and design, policy, compliance and report writing. It will be necessary to have the ability to work with all levels of the organisation from clinical staff including Doctors and Nurses to the Executive team, and the capability of turning technical jargon into layman’s terms.

Ideally you’ll come to the role with experience in this specialised field, or you will be looking for the next challenge in your career and have extensive knowledge from working in Infrastructure, with firewalls, network security and the like. A qualification in IT or similar is advantageous but not essential if you have prior experience. Being able to build relationships and talk to employees across all levels of the organisation is something that should be done with ease.

The Southern district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education, affordable housing and outstanding recreational opportunities.  Dunedin has a small city feel, with a high energy vibe.  So whether it surfing, kayaking or sailing; skiing, hunting or fishing; theatre, live-music or art – there’s literally something for everyone.  Please note that travel throughout our district will be a requirement with this position.

Closing date for applications:  Sunday 30 July 2017
