With leadership responsibilities across all of the rural hospital providers in the Southern district, including Lakes District Hospital in Queenstown, owned and operated by the DHB, and contractual relationship management of the rural trusts that the Southern DHB contract with, it is essential that you bring your passion for working in rural communities and engaging leadership style to drive this service forward.  In this role you’ll wear two hats, with day to day operational oversite of Lakes District Hospital as well as a strong strategic focus, to align with our vision and values.

No two day’s in this role will be the same as you will be leading rural clinicians who value patient centred care. You’ll be involved in leading effective capacity and demand service delivery, including using lean methodology to manage financial performance, activity and production planning, quality improvement and risk management, certification and accreditation, clinical pathway development and streamlining other systems and processes within the services; the remit of this role is diverse.   You will also be actively engaged in ensuring that we bring innovation in what we are doing such as the advancement of telehealth and of new models of care to support delivery of services as close to home as possible.

With tertiary qualifications (ideally in Health or Management), and leadership experience in a similar and relevant position elsewhere, your contribution will be valued and appreciated. You can’t do this alone however, so your ability to lead and engage, and your approachability and commitment to success will be evident in the roles you’ve held previously and your aspirations for the future.  There is appetite for change at Southern DHB, and we want you to help shape our future.
