Occupational Therapy

Introduction

The Occupational Therapy service works with people of all ages and their families / whanau to assist them to manage their home or work environment following an illness or injury.


Occupational Therapists work in a range of practice areas, inpatient hospital, mental health, rehabilitation and the community setting.  Occupational Therapists also assist people to learn new ways of doing things, adapting their home environment or providing equipment to support independence including specialised wheelchair assessments or specialised equipment.


Occupational Therapists are accredited assessors and work within the Ministry of Health guidelines for home modifications and equipment applications.
