Ophthalmology (eye) Services

 

Introduction

Ophthalmology  (Eye Department) focuses on the health of eyes and surrounding tissues, including muscles, bones and eyelids. Common  eye conditions  are:

  • Cataracts
  • Squints
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Retinal Detachment
  • Age Related Macular Degeneration.
 

You will be seen at  our Outpatients Department by an Eye Consultant or Nurse Specialist following referral to the hospital by your GP or Optometrist.

 

As part of the examination you may have drops in your eyes. The drops may cause blurred vision and light sensitivity.

 

You will need to arrange transport home as you may be unable to drive for at least 4-6 hours.
