Forensic Team

Introduction

Forensic psychiatry deals with the assessment, treatment and long term management of those patients whose mental disorder affects their behaviour to such a degree that they are liable to or have offended against the law.  This service, for people 17 years and older, provides forensic, court liaison and prison liaison services. 

Referrals can be received from:

  • Prison medical staff or Medical Officer
  • Community Probation Service
  • The Courts, Lawyers, Corrections
  • Police
  • Other Mental Health services
