Ear Nose and Throat (ENT)

Introduction

Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery (ENT) is concerned with disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck.

If you have an urgent problem requiring immediate assessment, you will be referred to Dunedin Hospital.

For other than urgent patients, the GP will write to the ENT Department requesting an appointment in the Outpatient Department.

Referral letters are reviewed to determine who should be seen first, based on information provided by the GP.

Urgent cases are usually seen within two weeks, other cases may wait longer.  Routine cases may be returned to the GP with management advice.
