Māori Health Services

In close collaboration the Māori health services aim to improve Māori health by ensuring that Māori are able to access timely, appropriate, responsive and effective health care. The kaupapa Māori services also work with the hospital wards and other specialist services to improve Māori access to resources and services that can impact upon their health and wellness.

Both Māori physical health and Māori mental health services provide cultural support to inpatients and their whānau.  We work as an integral part of the wider hospital multi-disciplinary team to enhance service delivery to Māori across the Southern District (both Otago and Southland regions).

The Māori Health Services work in collaboration with both hospital and specialist services to ensure the patient's journey from hospital to home is achieved successfully.   Our work helps patients and their whānau to help themselves so they can manage in times of ill health and become active in achieving greater things.
