Nau Mai, Haere Mai

Expressions of interest are invited from DHB staff and community health providers for funding to support study commencing February 2015. The funding is available for approved training qualifications at NZQA levels 3 - 7

(Certificate, Diploma or Graduate Certificate), excluding degrees.

HWNZ fund pays or contributes towards:

  • Course fees charged by the training provider

  • Travel subsidy if required to travel further than 100kms by road one-way

  • Accommodation subsidy for actual trainee costs for accommodation required at the agreed training programme location.

  • Māori Support/Cultural Supervision to assist trainee to meet study requirements

Who is eligible?

  • Must be employed by a District Health Board or by a health and disability service (NGO) that is funded by the District Health Board or the Ministry of Health

  • Have whakapapa and/or cultural links with Te Ao Māori and Māori communities

  • Be a New Zealand citizen or hold a New Zealand residency permit as conferred by the New Zealand Immigration Service

  • Meet the entry criteria required by the training provider as well as supported by the trainee's employer.

Trainees are not eligible for this funding if:

  • They receive scholarships or other funding from the Ministry of Health that covers any of the same components as this specification

  • They are employed in mental health services
