Lakes District Hospital in Queenstown is owned and operated by Southern DHB, through its Southland 'Provider Arm'. Lakes District Hospital is situated on Douglas Street, Frankton, Queenstown and services all the communities in the Wakatipu basin including Garston, Kingston, Glenorchy, Queenstown, and Arrowtown. There is a permanent population of approximately 23,000 people in the district and up to 1 million domestic/international visitors annually to Queenstown, which is known as New Zealand's adventure capital. Lakes District Hospital is 2.5 hours drive from Southland Base Hospital and 45 minutes by helicopter. There are up to 400 emergency presentations per month and up to 50 transfers to secondary or tertiary hospitals. Lakes District Hospital consists of 21 beds, with a mix of maternity, hospital level elderly care and acute medical. SERVICES PROVIDED:
