Haere Mai, Welcome!  Southern DHB Mental Health Services are managed and delivered from the Southland 'Provider Arm' of Southern DHB.

Our team provides a range of specialist services to consumers across the age span, in both inpatient and community settings. Multi-disciplinary teams are based in Invercargill, Gore and Wakatipu and provide services throughout the Southland district.   Access to these services is usually via your General Practitioner (GP), another health provider, or the Southland Mental Health Emergency Team.  The service sits within the Southland DHB Clinical Governance Structure. Strong Clinical Governance underpins all our activity.

All Southern DHB Mental Health facilities have Ministry of Health Certification. This means that our facilities have been independently approved and certified as providing safe health and disability services to the public, as required under the Health and Disability Service (Safety) Act 2001. 

Southern DHB Mental Health services also have Quality Health New Zealand Accreditation status, which reflects our commitment to continually working to further improve clinical quality and safety of the services we provide to our patients and consumers.

Southern DHB Mental Health Services in Southland are managed by a Clinical Leadership Team  including a Divisional Director (medical leader), a Director of Nursing and a Divisional Manager. This team reports through to Southland DHB's 'Provider Arm' management (the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Medical Officer and the Regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer), who sit on the Regional Executive Management Team.

*Dr Dell'Ario is also Director of Area Mental Health Services (DAMHS) which is a statutory responsibility under the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992.
