District wide Stop Smoking Service
From the 1st September 2016 the MoH funded stop smoking service moved to a single provider across the Southern district.
Southern Stop Smoking Service
Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Trust provides a free service offering community group clinics and one-on-one support with seven site coaches operating across the Southern district.
Individuals, health providers, workplaces, and community organisations can refer.
Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) resources are provided to support people on their journey to becoming smoke-free. These include gum, lozenges and patches.
Referrals can be done by phone, email or through their on-line referral system.
Help for People to Stop Smoking
In hospital: your doctor, nurse and other health professionals can arrange NRT for you during your hospital stay. They can also give you information and refer you to a stop smoking support service.
Visiting General Practice: your GP or Practice Nurse can arrange NRT for you. They can provide you with information and refer you to a service about stop smoking support services.
