We are currently seeking a PGY2+ House Officer, available to start 19th August 2019.

The Role
As a House Officer at Dunedin Hospital, you will gain exposure to a number of different runs! Each are 3 months duration and commence each quarter (November/February/May/August), with the exception of O&G and Paediatrics which offer 6 month runs. Our surgical runs encompass: Orthopaedics, all General Surgery, Opthalmology, ENT, Neurology and Psychiatry. Our medical runs include: Cardiology, General Medicine, Older People’s Health, Oncology, Haematology, Renal and Gastroenterology. In addition to these, our MAU (Medical Assessment Unit) run offers Senior House Officers the pathway to becoming a Medical Registrar. We also have runs available to PGY2+, for ED, O&G, Paediatrics, Leave Rotator and Community.
House Officers at Dunedin Hospital are managed by the RMO Unit, and are also welcomed to join the RMO Committee (which consists of their peers). As a House Officer, you will receive 2 hours of protected teaching a week - featuring both internal and external, visiting speakers - in addition to being offered other education opportunities such as journal clubs and x-ray meetings. The RMO Unit encourages all House Officers to participate with their own input, or by holding their own teaching sessions. 

The Hospital
Dunedin Hospital is located in the heart of the city. It is a tertiary level hospital of 400 beds and services Dunedin and the wider Otago region. 
Southern DHB (which encompasses Dunedin and Southland Hospital) has a strong collaborative relationship with the University of Otago, making a number of teaching and research options possible for those keen to pursue their academic careers whilst completing their clinical work.

The Location
Dunedin is a wonderful place for all, including families - with great educational facilities (primary through tertiary) and many activities available for all ages. Some of New Zealand’s most famous beaches, national parks, ski fields and wineries are within easy driving distance.

Requirements
•    Minimum 2 years post qualification experience working in a House Officer role.
•    A current CV and cover letter. Please rank the runs you are interested in working in your cover letter.
•    Contact details for 3 Consultants we may contact directly for references. These Consultants will have supervised your day-to-day clinical work and one of the referees provided must be from your current or most recent employer. Please ensure you advise your referees of their nomination so they are aware they will be contacted by an RMO Recruitment Advisor from the Southern DHB.
•    Ideally available to start 19th August 2019.
•    You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, and be eligible for general or provisional registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility by visiting the Council’s website at www.mcnz.org.nz
•    The Medical Council of New Zealand (the Council) recently introduced a new primary source verification using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates’ Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service.
