About the Service
The Southern Blood & Cancer Service is a busy, fast growing, challenging and rewarding place to work and comprises of the Outpatient Department Clinics, Oncology Day Unit (Chemotherapy Unit), Oncology/Haematology Assessment Unit, Radiation Therapy & the acute inpatient Ward 8C.
About the Role – what’s in it for me?
A Registered Nurse of this service will be responsible for the care of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology patients receiving Chemotherapy or Radiation Therapy.
Some of the key nursing tasks performed within the service are: patient assessment; symptom control and management; nurse led ‘on treatment’ clinics; patient education; psychosocial assessment and support, administration of chemotherapy and associated supportive therapies or procedures.
We’re looking for someone who is experienced and organised, friendly and calm, able to work independently and at the same time genuinely interested in the best outcome for both patient and team.
- Must have current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
- Previous acute Oncology/Haematology experience is essential, and you must have at least 1 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
