The Role

As a Medical Registrar at Dunedin Hospital, you will belong to a close knit, diverse team. Our Medical Registrar, RACP accredited runs include: Internal Medicine, Rehabilitation, Radiation Oncology, Respiratory, Rheumatology, Respiratory, Renal, Endocrinology, Haematology, Neurology, Cardiology, Older People’s Health, ICU and Gastroenterology. In addition to this, Medical Registrars are encouraged to get involved with simulation training of House Officers. Medical Registrars work closely with the RMO Unit, and are actively involved in the maintenance of their own rosters.

The Hospital

Dunedin Hospital is located in the heart of the city. It is a tertiary level hospital of 400 beds and services Dunedin and the wider Otago region.

Southern DHB (which encompasses Dunedin and Southland Hospital) has a strong collaborative relationship with the University of Otago, making a number of teaching and research options possible for those keen to pursue their academic careers whilst completing their clinical work.

The Location

Dunedin is a wonderful place for all, including families - with great educational facilities (primary through tertiary) and many activities available for all ages. Some of New Zealand’s most famous beaches, national parks, ski fields and wineries are within easy driving distance.

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience with a minimum of 9 months working in medical runs.
  • You will be training towards a career as a Physician or wanting to move into General Practice or Rural Hospital Medicine, and have a keen interest in the area of General Medicine.
