About Us
Southern District Health Board (Southern DHB) exists to support everyone across our district to live well, and access the right care when they need it, by delivering high quality, patient-centred and equitable health services to our diverse communities.

Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City. This means Southern DHB serves the largest geographic region of all New Zealand's Health Boards.

We offer you a warm, pleasant working environment, very good resources and the opportunity to work and develop professionally within a progressive and friendly team that is well supported by management.

Gore – located between two main cities, Invercargill and Dunedin - boasts a central point to some of Southlands best natural landscapes while offering a fantastic lifestyle with affordable living. It’s what we like to call ‘rural city living’.

About You / About the Role
We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Mental Health Professional to fill this role working with children and adolescents (and their families), with mental health difficulties. If you have experience in the provision of psychotherapy on an individual or group basis and you’re passionate with an unwavering belief in people’s recovery - then you might just be the one for us!

You’ll work with a broad-based generic caseload, utilising your mental health experience with excellent assessment and intervention skills. As someone committed to the MDT approach with a focus on excellent service delivery, you’ll also appreciate that we offer ongoing tailored professional development specific to our Mental Health Team.

Naturally you’ll have the ability to work under pressure as a team player committed to excellence in service delivery. Ideally you will have experience in working with children and adolescent in a mental health setting, however if you have an interest in this area we would also like to hear from you.

You must be a Registered Health Professional with a current APC - Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist with experience working within a mental health sector, be eligible to live and work in New Zealand and hold a current NZ Drivers licence.

If you think this sounds like you then apply now!

The Location
The Southern district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education, affordable housing and outstanding recreational opportunities. Whether it’s surfing, kayaking or sailing; skiing, hunting or fishing; theatre, live-music or art – there’s literally something for everyone. Check out https://southernhealthcareers.nz/ for what the region - and we - can offer you and your whanau.
