Medical Secretary – Neurosurgery
- Permanent, Full-time (32 - 40 hours per week)
We are looking for an experienced administrator to support the Neurosurgery service and wider Specialist Surgical team based at Dunedin Hospital as a Medical Secretary. This is a role that will provide an opportunity to demonstrate outstanding coordination skills, your ability to work autonomously and also use your initiative. This is a demanding role working with a high level of administration tasks and interfacing with a large multidisciplinary team, so if you are looking for your next career challenge, look no further!
About the Role
This position carries a varied workload, working to strict deadlines and fundamental to this position is your ability to uphold confidential patient information. Booking our patients for surgery and maintaining the operating list schedule is a priority for this position. Being mindful of efficient operating list booking, the impact surgery has on people, the timeframes people need surgery by and the constant reorganising of operating lists due to emergencies are all things you will deal with day to day. Good communication to other departments is paramount. Coordinating the medical staffs’ travel to clinics to rural clinics is also part of this role.
We need someone who can handle having several things on the go at once, manage conflicting priorities and ensure the department runs smoothly,
Our ideal candidate will bring a strong customer focus, with a typing speed of at least 70wpm and current medical typing experience or, you may already be an excellent typist who has an interest in the health field. Regardless, accuracy and attention to detail are essential and should you be successful in gaining an interview for this role your typing speed and accuracy will be tested. Utilising your strong interpersonal skills, your ability to prioritise and your Dictaphone typing skills, it is essential that you show us you have an eye for accuracy and your confidence around computer systems.
The salary range is from $43,580 to $51,259 and the commencement step will be based on relevant experience and qualifications.
