About the Team

North Community Mental Health Team provide assessment, support and treatment for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. The geographic area serviced by the Team includes Mosgiel, Middlemarch, Palmerston and Dunedin city from the Octagon northwards.

About the Role and You

In this Social Work role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team based on the Dunedin Hospital complex, working in a case management capacity to deliver co-ordinated service to our clients. You will also work autonomously in your Social Work role but will be well embedded in a team of equally dedicated mental health professionals.  We need you to be able to demonstrate your effective communication skills and your ability to think on your feet while exuding calmness under pressure.

You will have an excellent set of skills - written and oral communication; excellent computer / technology competency; risk / assessment skills; networking; advocacy; and critical thinking. Plus, you will have the ability to support and empower the patient and the family/whanau to reach their health goals.  Previous experience in a mental health setting will be an added advantage.

You must hold a professional social worker qualification (as per Social Worker Registration Board schedules for registration eligibility i.e. Bachelor’s degree equivalent) and be Registered and hold a current annual practicing certificate with Social Work Registration Board (SWRB).   A current full driver license is essential.
