Recruitment Coordinator – Senior Medical Officers (SMO)

  • Dunedin Hospital based
  • Busy fun office environment
  • Fixed term parental leave cover mid-November to September 2020

About the opportunity

Do you like herding cats?  Do you have patience and can stay calm under pressure?  This role will have you donkey-deep in process, but you will also have some fun dealing with a range of international and local candidates and internal customers.

Our fabulous recruitment coordinator for senior doctors is going on parental leave.  As part of our district-wide recruitment team and HR, you will work side by side with our extremely experienced Recruitment Advisor – SMO who will coach and support you, as you in turn help keep her sane!  Your mission?  To work closely with our senior doctors, managers and administrators to engage and secure new talent for the Southern DHB.

Our ideal applicant

We need someone who enjoys working in a busy office where no day is the same and who wants to apply their outstanding time and process management and organisation to great advantage.  There’s a fair bit of process and procedure to navigate so if you like ticking boxes, following timelines, monitoring progress and compliance and problem solving on the fly, this could be just the challenge you are looking for.  Accuracy, judgment and confidentiality are essential.  While this is an administration-heavy role, you will need to learn fast, retain knowledge as well as anticipate roadblocks.  You need to be a little bit curious and not scared to ask questions, and the ability to build rapport and trust with potential and new employees sometimes over many months will ensure we are making progress in this dynamic area of recruitment.  An interest in social media marketing would be useful too.

We are open to your background – it might be travel, general admin, law or you might be a graduate looking for a role to get your teeth into.  To be considered for this role, please apply online with a full CV and cover letter describing the skills you bring, the roles you’ve held that make you our ideal candidate and why YOU are the new Recruitment Coordinator we need now!
