Administration Officer - Day Surgery Unit
- Permanent, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours per week)
- Monday to Friday, 0730 – 1600 one week, 0830 – 1700 the next
Are you an experienced administrator or someone who is adaptable and a quick learner? We have an exciting permanent, full-time position opportunity available for someone to come on board as part of our supportive, friendly and professional Day Surgery Unit team at Dunedin Hospital.
About the Role
In this position you’ll be a pivotal member of the service with both reception and administrative responsibilities. You’ll be a confident communicator – both written and oral, and comfortable dealing with patients both in person and on the phone; with a strong IT skill-set and the capacity to quickly pick up software programmes unique to the hospital environment. The administration component of this role shouldn’t be underestimated however, with the breadth of clinical procedures offered in our Day Surgery Unit, variety is guaranteed!
For the right person this is an interesting and rewarding role. As one of two Administrators, your duties will include front desk reception, booking patients for surgery and processing referrals, liaising with primary care providers in the community and working closely with our clinical staff. The hours of work for this position will be eight hour shifts with a start time of between 7-8:30 am, Monday to Friday to ensure good reception cover. As you’ll be dealing with confidential patient material we would expect you to be discrete and have a mature outlook towards your work.
You must be a team player with very good communication skills, who can demonstrate flexibility and understands and appreciates the need for attention to detail. You must also be comfortable interacting with a variety of people and attending to issues that arise – usually at the same time! We ask that in your application you demonstrate how your previous work experience in administration and/or customer service roles has honed your ability to prioritise and juggle tasks, within demanding timeframes.
Excellent computer skills are essential and database experience using iPM is preferred but full training will be given to the successful applicant to ensure that you are comfortable and confident with our systems.
