Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist or Medical Officer.
This is a fixed term role for twelve months with a flexible start date. It is suitable for Rural Hospital Medicine Specialists, Senior Registrars on the Rural Hospital Medicine Training Scheme or Emergency Medicine Training Scheme and Medical Officers who have substantial experience in Emergency Medicine.
Lakes District Hospital consists of 10 General Medical (Acute) beds, five Maternity beds, an Emergency Department and a small outpatient department. It has onsite Radiology (with CT scanning) and access to Laboratory services. In this role you will work on the ward and in the Emergency Department. We see around 13,500 new attendances per year, with a patient population that is young and international. The spectrum of disease seen here is hugely varied, with a focus on trauma. At Lakes District Hospital you’ll be part of a team of 11 FTE Rural Hospital doctors and medical officers. You will need to be a confident independent practitioner as your on-call backup may be up to 30 minutes away, though there is easy access to phone advice.
