Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist or Medical Officer.
This is a fixed term role, from early November until mid-April 2020, it is suitable for Registrars on the Rural Hospital Medicine Training Scheme, or Medical Officers who have substantial experience in Emergency Medicine.
Lakes District Hospital consists of 10 General Medical (Acute) beds, five Maternity beds, Emergency Department and a small out-patient department. It has onsite Radiology and access to Laboratory services and a CT scanner. In this role you will work mainly in the Emergency Department, where we see around 9,500 new attendances per year, with a patient population that is young and international, the spectrum of disease seen here is hugely varied. At Lakes District Hospital you’ll be part of a team of 8 FTE rural hospital doctors and medical officers. You will need to be a confident practitioner as your on-call backup may be up to 30 minutes away, though there is easy access to phone advice. An on call room is provided.
