We are looking for a casual Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist or a Registrar on the Rural Hospital Medicine Training Scheme, or Medical Officers with extensive experience in Emergency Medicine.
As you can imagine, things get really hectic in Queenstown over the summer, so when you join us in this role you will be assisting us in ensuring we can fill any roster gaps and times when things get busy!
Lakes District Hospital consists of 10 General Medical (Acute) beds, five Maternity beds, Emergency Department and a small out-patient department. It has onsite Radiology and access to Laboratory services and a CT scanner. In this role you will work mainly in the Emergency Department, where we see around 9,500 new attendances per year, with a patient population that is young and international, the spectrum of disease seen here is hugely varied. At Lakes District Hospital you’ll be part of a team of 8 FTE rural hospital doctors and medical officers. You will need to be a confident practitioner as your on-call backup may be up to 30 minutes away, though there is easy access to phone advice. An on call room is provided.
