Internal Medicine Physician

  • Dunedin Hospital
  • Permanent, Fulltime

Applications are invited for an Internal Medicine Physician role at Dunedin Hospital with an expected start date of January 2020.

Dunedin Hospital is a 350 bed tertiary hospital with close links to the University of Otago, one of New Zealand’s leading research Institutes. The Internal Medicine Physicians contribute to the professional development and supervision of the supporting team of Registrars, House Officers and students at Dunedin Hospital. Teaching sessions are a regular feature of our department and include formal lectures, weekly journal club, medical forums, grand rounds and audit meetings. The Physicians pride themselves on providing excellent Registrar exam preparation courses and enjoy a nearly 100% success rate.

The successful candidate will have a broad Internal Medicine background and will be expected to participate in a 1 in 8 on call roster.  You will be joining a dedicated team of nine senior staff who primarily provide acute inpatient care for patients.  Outpatient Clinics held in our satellite hospitals in the Otago region may also be part of the successful applicant’s duties.

Candidates who are dual trained in medical subspecialty (e.g. geriatrics, cardiology, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, critical care, etc.) are also encouraged to apply as we are happy to look into the opportunities for you to work as a subspecialist within a portion of the advertised FTE.

Fellowship with the RACP or an overseas equivalent is essential as is eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Applications from overseas Physicians are welcome and a start date will be negotiated with registration and immigration requirements taken into consideration.
