Mental Health Professional – Specialist Addiction Services - Wakari Hospital

Dunedin

Do you have a positive/can do outlook, a genuine interest and previous experience working with clients with substance use issues?  Then come and join our collaborative and friendly team at the Specialist Addiction Service (SAS), based in Dunedin.

About the Role

As part of this dedicated team you’ll have your own case load of clients on Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) meaning your days will be busy and varied, including OST Case Management, groups and walk-in assessments. You’ll have regular contact with other DHB Health Services, and NGO’s, so you must be an excellent communicator who is adept at interacting with your clients, colleagues and external organisations, always striving to ensure the best results, with a holistic wrap around approach.

About You

You will bring to this role a solid understanding of addiction issues and experience in working with clients with co-existing-problems (CEP) and you’ll be able to demonstrate strength in screening, assessment, brief intervention, and clear decision making skills. Desirable skills and experience relate to mental health and physical health assessment.

You will be a Registered Mental Health Professional (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or DAPAANZ registered clinician. It is desirable that you hold relevant post graduate qualifications.
