As part of our district-wide RMO Unit team that is focused on the rostering of resident doctors working at Southland Hospital you will manage several rosters and assist Educational Supervisors in supporting prevocational doctors who are beginning their medical careers. As well, you will support the District RMO Unit Manager in their absence and become the ‘go to’ advisor and eyes and ears within the team.

This is a busy professional office so you will need to enjoy being part of a team that works together as well as independently to achieve team goals. You love meeting deadlines and tend to thrive when the pressure comes on even when you have a number of other activities vying for your attention. Accuracy, judgment and maintaining confidentiality are essential. You will need to learn fast, retain knowledge as well as anticipate roadblocks. The ability to build rapport and trust with fellow employees is also a key aspect of this role as is learning to navigate the two Multi Employer Collective Agreements that govern the terms and conditions of the resident doctors.

While the role is based in Invercargill, there will be the need for occasional travel to Dunedin to connect with the wider team.
