Start 2020 as our new Director of Midwifery!

Southern DHB is strengthening midwifery leadership and has recently consulted with key stakeholders and reviewed national and international best practice on how this can best be achieved across our Southern Health System.  As a result we have committing to introducing additional operational leadership resource once the new Director of Midwifery has been appointed, so this is a real opportunity to be part of this decision making and new structure to take us forward.

About the Opportunity

This role is positioned to focus on championing professional leadership and strategy for improving the quality of care for women and their babies across all maternity settings.  You will ‘lead with influence' across the wider system strengthening the midwifery voice at all levels as well as championing new models of care, workforce planning and development.

This really is a unique opportunity to help set us up for the future as we continue to transform the models of care and services we provide to our diverse communities.

Working in partnership with the General Manager Operations and the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer you will ensure that professional midwifery practice is consistent with evidence-based practice, as well as the overall vision, values and philosophy of the Southern District Health Board.

This role will be pivotal in ensuring we are able to deliver safe, comprehensive, contemporary and high quality maternity services within the resources available.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational leader who demonstrates clinical credibility and highly effective influencing capability together with effective relationship management and engagement skill.  You will be approachable, resilient, persistent and focused on our commitment to making a difference and will model the behaviour expected in an experienced midwifery leader, including actively seeking to develop future midwifery leaders.
