Our 7th floor here at Dunedin Hospital is dynamic and fast paced. We are seeking an enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join us on a permanent, part-time basis. The Health Care Assistant role is the ideal way for you to kick start your career in health, and gain invaluable experience.
About the Role
This role will see you primarily focusing your attention to the overall needs of the service. This is a varied role within a clinical environment and you will need to be able to take instruction and direction from the nurses on the ward, whilst having a helpful and team focused approach to making a difference to the environment, and care provided to the patients under our care.
As Health Care Assistant you will be involved in:
- Supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team
- Patient supervision and/or movement
- Stock reconciliation
- Ward maintenance
This particular role is for 2 x weekend shifts. In the health industry, having set shifts is a real bonus in terms of work-life balance! There may also be additional opportunity for picking up extra shifts from time to time if you wished to cover staff holidays and absences.
The permanent hours we are looking to fill are as follows:
Saturdays and Sundays, 9am – 5.30pm (although these hours may be negotiable for the right candidate)
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.
It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity in either your personal or professional life is also essential.
