About the opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Dental Assistant to assist our Dental Unit as part of the Oral Health Service. You will assist in the provision of care for inpatient, outpatient and community based patients/clients of Southland Hospital.
This role encompasses a balance of clinical (chair-side assistance) and administrative support (for example preparing patient notes, materials and equipment) and a key focus of this role is ensuring a safe and clean environment is provided for patients, staff and visitors through appropriate sterilisation, maintenance and cleaning.
Our successful applicant will be:
- Very organised and able to manage time/resources
- A good communicator, with well-developed interpersonal skills
- Confident in using technology (eg computers, databases)
- Willing to learn new systems – for which full training will be provided
Ideally you will have current experience and be working as a qualified Dental Assistant within a private practice or a hospital setting, however we are willing to train someone who has the right attributes, and who is willing to work towards a qualification in Dental Assisting. You will be required to work rostered shifts between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
Please note a full current driver licence is essential.
