Our Gastroenterology Department in Dunedin Hospital is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join us on a permanent, full-time basis. The Health Care Assistant role is the ideal way for you to kick start your career in health!
About the Role
The Gastroenterology Department consists of 25 staff members ranging from administration to nursing to medical. The successful candidate will be employed Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.30am and 4.00pm.
As Health Care Assistant you will be involved in:
- Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
- Patient supervision and/or movement
- Stock reconciliation
- Ward maintenance
- Endoscope reprocessing and procedure room set up (will feature heavily in this role)
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.
It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether that is in a professional environment or in your personal life caring for children or family members.
