HR Business Partner

Human Resources, Dunedin Hospital

  • Guide, support and coach our leaders
  • Complex and rewarding health environment
  • Responsibility and ownership of your own portfolio

Bring your HR expertise to this rewarding role where you’ll be challenged daily and make a real difference to the wellbeing of our workforce.

About us

If you want to make a difference as an HR practitioner, then working for Southern DHB could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.  Here you’ll be working in an HR team, embedding a people strategy to see us through the new Dunedin Hospital build, and beyond.  HR’s role at Southern DHB is to enable a healthy and high performing workforce, and to achieve this we need another smart, credible, action-oriented HR Professional who is willing to challenge the status quo in the complex environment of health.

About the opportunity

An internal move within our team has created a permanent fulltime position, based in Dunedin, for an experienced and confident HR Business Partner reporting to the Senior HR Manager.  In this role you’ll provide strategic and tailored people centric advice across a range of functions including workforce planning, performance and change management, industrial and employment relations, and remuneration coupled with a partnership approach with unions.

About you

You’ll be instrumental in guiding, supporting and coaching not only our business leaders but our wider HR Team as well, including HR Consultants who you’ll work closely with.  We want your fresh thinking; someone we can all learn from and bounce ideas with. It’s a two-way street though, with plenty of opportunities for you to stretch your practice and grow where no two days will be the same!

Skills you need to be effective in this role:

  • 8+ years broad HR generalist experience, preferably at business partner/senior advisor level.
  • Strong technical HR knowledge, in an NZ employment relations context
  • Able to take the lead on difficult or sensitive performance and change management processes
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve employee issues
  • A naturally skilled and influential communicator
  • Honest and able to build constructive relationships, particularly with Unions

An essential requirement of course, is that we need you to be able to hit the ground running and think on your feet in this busy role.  If you are resilient and flexible; someone who thrives in a dynamic and changing environment, creates energy in a team and just likes getting out there and doing it, then hit apply now!

Why Dunedin?

Now is a great time to relocate to Southern if you were considering a move! The Otago district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education, and outstanding recreational opportunities.  Whether it is surfing, kayaking or sailing; skiing, hunting or fishing; theatre, live-music or art – there’s literally something for everyone.  Check out https://southernhealthcareers.nz/ for what the region and we can offer you and your whanau.

Closing Date: Sunday 12th July 2020
