Violence Intervention Programme Coordinator

The opportunity has arisen for someone to join our district Violence Intervention Programme.
In this role you will use your understanding of family violence and child protection in the context of the health care sector to train and support our clinical staff on Family Violence and Child Protection issues.
You will be implementing the Violence Intervention Programme (VIP) - a Ministry of Health programme - that reduces the harm from family violence by implementing an early intervention programme by identifying family violence across the life span and child protection in the health settings. You will be using your understanding of family violence and child protection in the context of the health care sector to train and support our clinical staff.
As you will be training staff, experience in delivering adult education is essential.
You are a self-motivated person, practised at thinking outside the square, implementing quality improvement practices and identifying solutions to ensure system level changes occur. Knowledge of quality improvement methodology and audit is desirable.
You will be able to prioritise your work, time and resources in the most efficient way to achieve your goals and that of the team.
You will be computer literate (which include using Microsoft office products and MS team) and experienced in using databases and patient management systems. Experience in using SharePoint is desirable.
You will establish and maintain regular contact with key community child protection and family violence intervention agencies and stakeholders to ensure collaborative management of family violence concerns and at risk/vulnerable children.
Ideally you will have a wealth of life experience and the ability to relate to people from wide range of backgrounds. As you will be working with internal staff, rural hospitals and external agencies, it is essential that you have exceptional communication skills and, where appropriate, use your natural ability to influence and motivate others.
You will be knowledgeable of the Child Youth and their Families Act 1989 and Domestic Violence Act 1995 and its application health settings and be able to demonstrate understanding of family violence and the implications at all levels of society.
You’ll be a registered social worker or registered nurse with a current APC, a full clean driver’s licence and the ability to be flexible to allow district travel as required.
