About the Role – what’s in it for me?
Reporting into the Security Service Manager, your role will be primarily based at the main Dunedin Hospital but will also include shifts at Wakari Hospital. No two days in this role will be the same - you’ll need to think on your feet and remain calm under pressure.
As part of our busy security team you will be involved in a number of different duties such as;
- routine patrols,
- report writing,
- welfare checks,
- managing upset and potentially aggressive people,
- ensuring the overall security of our buildings.
You will receive excellent training and the opportunity to work with a friendly, supportive and committed team. If you are looking for a Security role that is busy, varied and makes a genuine difference to the public’s experience of our healthcare service we would love to hear from you!
Our Security Officers work on a rostered basis 7 days a week, so you will need to have the flexibility to cover a variety of shifts and there will be plenty of opportunity to work additional hours to cover team member’s annual and other leave periods.
Regular shifts are advised with 2 week’s notice and consist of night (11pm to 7am), day (7am to 3pm), afternoon (3pm to 11pm) and swing shifts (8pm to 4am) as well as occasional day shifts of 9am to 5pm when working at our Wakari site.
As a conscientious and trustworthy individual, you will remain calm in stressful situations, and enjoy interacting with the public. You will need to have an approachable manner and excellent communication skills. Prior security experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Please note that you must have a clean current full driver’s license to be considered for this role.
