  • Join our friendly team!

If you’re looking for a role that’s stimulating, busy and enables you to work alongside a multidisciplinary team utilising your exceptional typing skills, then look no further!

About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced typist to support our Surgical Administration Services based at Southland Hospital in a permanent capacity. This is a role that will provide an opportunity to demonstrate your outstanding coordination skills, and also allow you to use your initiative.  This is a demanding yet rewarding role working with a high level of administration tasks, and interfacing with a large multidisciplinary team.

The salary range for this position is $44,894 to $46,740 (pro rata for part time) and will be based on experience, skills and qualifications if applicable.

About you

Ideally, you would have medical transcription experience, know medical and/or surgical terminology, and be flexible about what specialties you type.  If you don’t have medical transcription experience, you need to be quick and accurate, and we can give you on-the-job training in medical terminology.

You should know your way around dictation systems – either via a dictaphone or via dictation apps. As a typist you will have strong attention to detail with a typing speed of at least 70wpm. (Please note that our preferred candidate may be required to undertake a typing proficiency test to be measured for speed and accuracy).

The work required to be undertaken is fast paced, and you will be working to strict deadlines.  It relies heavily on technology, therefore you must be confident around computer systems. You must also be conscious of working with the utmost discretion as you’ll be privy to confidential patient information. You may be required on occasion to assist other departments such as covering staff leave, or periods of high work volumes.

If this sounds like the opportunity you have been waiting for, then do not delay and apply now!
