About the Team
The 7th floor at Dunedin Hospital is an acute and busy area with a diverse range of specialities including Respiratory, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Renal in four areas: Cath Lab, 7A, 7B (CCU) and 7C. There is an abundance of complexity and high dependency level care within these areas. We provide a variety of therapies in both the CCU and at the ward level including non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BIPAP), humidified high flow, cardiac monitoring, haemodynamic monitoring and peritoneal dialysis.  We are a supportive, well integrated and collaborative team that work well across the spectrum of care offered.

About the Role – what’s in it for me?

We are looking for a Nurse Educator to step into this 0.4 FTE fixed term role to continue to support new and existing staff within the 7th Floor cardio-respiratory services with the provision of education, training and resources that ensure practice is current, evidence based and fit for purpose.

A born communicator and collaborator, with the inherent ability to build successful working relationships, this role will see you working alongside nurses, medical colleagues as well as other educators within the wider PDU team to provide practice and professional development opportunities that enhance service delivery, quality and safety alongside improved patient outcomes.

About You

You will have considerable post registration experience in nursing, professional credibility in the clinical setting with the confidence and passion for supporting and developing our nurses.  Participating in the recruitment of new nurses, developing and implementing their orientation programme is all part of the job. You must have first-rate knowledge of the professional standards and regulations for Nurses plus superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

It is essential that you are a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate and either hold or be working towards an appropriate postgraduate qualification.

If you are a networker, a leader and a role model; with recognised teaching, mentoring and coaching skills, have a real passion for patient and staff safety; and you align with Southern DHBs values and objectives then we welcome your interest in joining our team.
