Perioperative - Endoscopy
• Permanent, part- time (16 hours per week)
• Monday to Sunday, Rostered Shifts

Here in Southland Hospital’s Perioperative department, we are on the look-out for a dedicated individual to join us as a Healthcare Assistant on a part-time permanent basis in Endoscopy.
About the opportunity
In this important role your focus will be predominately on non-direct patient care tasks and maintenance of the perioperative environment to ensure efficient and effective functioning including:
• Restocking and setting up of equipment
• Cleaning and sterilising endoscopes
• Collecting specimens and blood
Your contribution will ensure that operations run to schedule and are well prepared so that our surgeons and clinical staff are able to perform their magic. Our team is focused on patient centred care, so your kind nature and ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical situations will ensure the patient journey is a smooth one. This can be a physically demanding role, e.g. relocating beds/patients, and as the role title implies, you’ll spend a portion of your time in the operating theatre. The team is supportive and friendly, and the opportunity to gain great job satisfaction is huge if you enjoy working at a fast pace and under pressure.
The successful applicant’s will be well organised, with a positive “can do” attitude and be able to communicate clearly and openly. An integral part of our health care team, you must be able to take direction from a variety of sources. Experience working with people in the health sector and/or experience or knowledge of customer service would be an advantage. Being computer literate is preferred, and full training of our systems will be given.
Before applying for this role, please take into account the following: Our Endoscopy unit is also an acute service, therefore in this position you will be rostered Monday to Sunday, and may include out-of-roster requirements.
