Our Emergency Department in Southland Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Health Care Assistant to join us on a permanent, part-time basis.
About the Role
Our Emergency Department is a busy service and provides care for approximately 38,500 attendances every year. We have a triage area, a rapid assessment area, dedicated resuscitation areas, acute, sub-acute and paediatric cubicles. Our department carries out all acute care, including full patient resuscitation facilities, management of trauma, fractures, injuries etc. It is expected that the successful candidate will participate in all aspects of the 24/7 roster including weekend and night shifts.
As Health Care Assistant you will be involved in:
- Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
- Patient movement
- Patient cares, as required
- Stock reconciliation
- Ward maintenance
- Patient watch, with one on one care as required
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.
It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether than experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or family members. All roles include rostered rotating shifts 24/7 - incl. night shifts.
