A lifestyle that is hard to beat!  Southland is a wonderful place for families, with great educational facilities (primary through tertiary) and many activities available for all ages.  Some of New Zealand’s most famous national parks, ski fields and wineries are within easy driving distance.  You have an abundance of choice for skiing with four ski fields within easy driving distance.  Invercargill is a family friendly city with excellent educational and sporting facilities. To find out more about living here please click the following link https://southlandnz.com

We have a number of opportunities available for Senior House Officers who are seeking a Southern lifestyle.  You will have a minimum of two years post graduate medical experience in and be eligible for, or already hold, registration with Medical Council of NZ.

The vacancy is initially for a 6 month ED/Trauma run, after which, depending on your interest, we have a number of runs available for you to work in.  These include:

Orthopaedics

General Medicine

Psychiatry

AT&R

While the above runs are available each quarter, we also have several 6 month runs available as well. If your interest lies in these specialties, please indicate your preferences in your cover letter.   If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you are applying for a general role.  The runs are:

  • ED
  • O&G
  • Paediatrics

Note that 6 months runs will occur November to May and May to November.

All internal Southland Hospital applicants, please contact the RMO Unit directly
