We have a number of opportunities available for Senior House Officers who are seeking a Southern lifestyle. You will have a minimum of two years post graduate medical experience in and be eligible for, or already hold, registration with Medical Council of NZ.
Working in a close knit team, you will have excellent access to your Registrar & Consultant, and unrivalled opportunities to experience many of the varied presentations to the hospital. You will be exposed to a number of medical situations that will equip you well for future training Registrar roles. You will have continued support in your professional development through 24/7 access to the library, weekly teaching and Grand Rounds, journal clubs, and regular RMO forums.
The vacancy is initially for a 6 month ED/Trauma run, after which, depending on your interest, we have a number of runs available for you to work in. These include:
General Surgery |
Orthopaedics

General Medicine
|
Psychiatry
|
AT&R
|

While the above runs are available each quarter, we also have several 6 month runs available as well. If your interest lies in these specialties, please indicate your preferences in your cover letter. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you are applying for a general role. The runs are:

Requirements
As noted above, you will have at least one years postgraduate experience and be eligible for, or already hold, registration in New Zealand with Medical Council of NZ.
- You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, and be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council’s website at www.mcnz.org.nz.

These Consultants should have supervised your day-to-day clinical work and one of the referees provided must be from your current or most recent employer.
