Our Medical Ward based at Southland Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Health Care Assistant to join us on a permanent full-time basis.
About the Role
This is a 38 bed ward that meets the needs of patients presenting with a full range of acute medical conditions. We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork.
This role will see you primarily focusing your attention to the overall needs of the unit. This role is within a clinical environment, and as an exceptional team player you will need to be able to take instruction and direction from the nurses on the ward, whilst having a helpful and team focused approach to making a difference to the environment and care provided the patients under our care.
All roles include rostered rotating shifts 24/7 - incl. night shifts.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will be involved in:
- Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
- Patient supervision and/or movement
- Patient cares, as required
- Stock reconciliation
- Ward maintenance
- Patient watch, with one on one care as required
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with previous health care experience, and from those who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.
It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether than experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or family members. All roles include rostered rotating shifts 24/7 - incl. night shifts.
