This is a fantastic opportunity to help drive and spread communications about some of the most exciting changes to happen at Dunedin Hospital?

Southern DHB, in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Southern Partnership Group, is preparing for the redevelopment of Dunedin Hospital to meet the current and future needs of our region. Alongside this, a range of re-fit and upgrade projects are underway while the longer term redevelopment of Dunedin Hospital is planned and carried out.

We need someone to help us keep everyone informed of what’s happening with these exciting projects – that means our DHB staff, our partners and providers, and our patients and communities.  This will be a rewarding and interesting opportunity to play a key role in a once-in-a-generation project to build modern and sustainable healthcare services and facilities for the Southern community.

Working with various stakeholders, you’ll be responsible for building the communications plans and implementing these accordingly. You’ll get the message out internally, on the website and through face to face meetings along with the media as required. You’ll have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills with the ability to engage your audience in a positive and informative style.

Building relationships is essential to this role, so you’ll be able to develop a great rapport with your colleagues in the Project Management Office and the Communications team, staff throughout the organisation and with our project partners.  You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about our services and their teams, and put your expert writing skills to work. You’ll have your ear to the ground to pick up new initiatives, success stories and how our plans are developing and being implemented. You’ll also support the wider communications team at the DHB on day to day activities.

You’ll have great judgement, be well organised, and have strong attention to detail. Previous experience in a communications role, and/or a background in public relations, marketing or journalism, is highly desirable.

This is an initial 2 year Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of extensions due to volumes of work. Time will be spent between Dunedin Hospital and Wakari Hospital.
