As a House Officer in our small but dedicated team, you will be offered extensive opportunities to grow your skills and talents as a Womens Health practitioner. Working in a dedicated Womens Health Unit, on any day you will find yourself in one of 14 maternity rooms, 4 birthing rooms, in theatre or in clinic. Working alongside you will be a team of dedicated Consultants, Registrars and experienced midwives as well as obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses.
To support you in your training, the department has a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric tutorials and weekly teaching sessions.
House Officers will usually work in our O&G service for 6 months and so will also spend time during the training year working in other specialities such as:
- General Surgery
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- General Medicine
- AT&R (Assessment, treatment & rehabilitation)
- Paediatrics (there is a separate application process for this role)
- ED (there is a separate application process for this role)
Regardless of where you will find yourself working, you will be a member of a close knit team, you will have excellent access to your Registrar & Consultant, and unrivalled opportunities to experience many of the varied presentations to the hospital. You will be exposed to a number of medical situations that will equip you well for future training Registrar roles.
You will be have a number of opportunities to access regular teaching, both formal and at the bed side as well as the ability to attend some clinics.

It is expected that you will have a minimum of 1 - 2 years post graduate medical experience. If you are unable to commence November 2017, please state in your application the date you will be available from.
