Interested in working at Southland Hospital as a Registrar but not quite ready to make the move?

We welcome registrations of interest from Registrars who would like to work at Southland Hospital but who are not yet ready for the move.  It may be working for us is in your mid to long term plan or you may not have seen the right role  advertised.

When working at Southland Hospital, you will be part of a small, but dedicated team and you'll have excellent access to your team Consultant and the Director of Training; and unrivalled opportunities to experience any of the varied presentations to the hospital.  With weekly teaching and Grand Rounds, journal clubs and regular RMO forums you'll be continually supported in your development.

Located in the lower South Island, Southland offers a wide range of recreational activities.  It is home to two of New Zealand’s national parks offering opportunities for tramping, internationally acclaimed fishing, hunting, climbing and a wide range of outdoor pursuits.  You have an abundance of choice for skiing with four ski fields within easy driving distance.  Invercargill is a family friendly city with excellent educational and sporting facilities.

Southland Hospital offers Registrar runs in the following specialties:

  • General Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • ED
  • O&G
  • Paediatrics
  • Orthopaedics
  • Anaesthesia (note that you must have at least 1 years experience in this specialty to be considered)
