Here at Southern DHB, we’re undergoing significant transformation, as we work towards the goal of becoming a clinically and financially sustainable organisation, supporting our district. We’re working very hard to provide high quality health and disability services so we’re highly focused on bringing in the right people with the appropriate experience and skills, to turn our strategic goals into reality.
Our Technology and Services team is expanding and we are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to maintain, support and implement server and network solutions across the DHB. Your role will ultimately be responsible for all aspects of managing the infrastructure from installation, tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting and administration. Day to day responsibility for systems administration of the Virtual and Physical Server environment, associated storage and Network infrastructure is part of the role. Additionally you will build and configure the operating systems and in conjunction with the Applications team, the application installation and infrastructure support.
Other aspects of the role include, daily routine checks of Backup and DR Systems, close liaison with the regional Service Desk, providing 3rd level technical support for incidents and problems and working with other members of the Information Services Group to resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis.
Having worked as a Service Desk Analyst or in Infrastructure support for a number of years this may be seen as a new career opportunity. A qualification in IT or similar is advantageous but not essential if you have prior experience. You’ll have exceptional customer services skills with the ability to communicate effectively with our internal customers both on the telephone and in-person using a non-technical language, and show a sense of pride in delivering a good service.
The Southern district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education, affordable housing and outstanding recreational opportunities. Dunedin has a small city feel, with a high energy vibe. So whether it surfing, kayaking or sailing; skiing, hunting or fishing; theatre, live-music or art – there’s literally something for everyone. Please note that travel throughout our district will be a requirement with this position.
