Our ED Service is pleased to be accepting applications for an experienced ED Registrar to work at Dunedin Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to add to their ED experience.
Dunedin Hospital is a tertiary level hospital of 400 beds located in the city centre. The ED sees 45,000 patients per year. Patient mix is broad and a full range of trauma, medical, surgical, paediatric and minor presentations are seen on a regular basis. Senior support is excellent, with one of the highest Consultant to Registrar ratios in the country.
Dunedin ED is currently accredited for six months of advanced training time by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. This is likely to be extended to 12 months before the end of 2017. It is also accredited for the Paediatric Logbook component of training. Dunedin has an ACEM exam preparation programme and a high pass rate for the College part one and part two exams. Dunedin Hospital has a range of other Registrar positions (including ICU, anaesthetics and medicine) that College trainees are able to rotate into in order to fulfil the requirements of training. Dunedin's university offers papers that meet the criteria of the ACEM Trainee Research Requirement Coursework Pathway.
Dedicated Fast Track time, access to the University of Otago 4.10 course, accredited rotations to ICU, Surgery, Medicine and Paediatrics, newly developed intermediate training programme….. the list of exciting initiatives within the Dunedin Hospital ED goes on and on.
