A vacancy has become available for a full time position as an anaesthetic registrar or provisional fellow at Dunedin Hospital. Applicants must have at least one year’s experience in anaesthesia and be able to participate in the anaesthetic registrar on call roster. Some obstetric experience is desirable.
This position within the anaesthetic department is for one year commencing December 2017 (start date may be negotiable) and is accredited for ANZCA training. Continuing on beyond this time would depend on availability of positions and may include the option of applying for a position on the ANZCA training scheme.
The vacancy would also be suitable for a provisional fellow for a year (subject to ANZCA approval). General provisional fellowships are possible with specific focus on perioperative medicine, retrieval, upper GI, obstetrics or neurosurgery. Other options include acute pain, medical education or an alternative tailored to the individual.
This is a busy, friendly department in a tertiary hospital with exposure to anaesthesia for neurosurgery, cardiothoracics, obstetrics, paediatrics, ENT, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, dental and more. The applicant would be working alongside 9 other registrars and around 30 consultants.
Dunedin is a vibrant University City and is renowned for its surfing, mountain biking, wildlife, cafes and art scene. You can live and play on the beach whilst only 8 minutes from the hospital. The surrounding districts include Fiordland and Central Otago and these beautiful places are easily accessible from Dunedin.
