Rural Medicine Specialist
Queenstown Lakes District Hospital
1 FTE, Fixed Term
Are you looking for a chance to mix some business with pleasure? A touch of soaking up the sun, and then if the snow arrives on time, hitting the slopes? Queenstown’s Lakes District Hospital has a parental leave fixed term position starting early January 2018 for up to 8 months.
Lakes District Hospital consists of 10 General Medical (Acute) beds, 5 Maternity beds, an Emergency Department and a small Out-Patient Department. It also has onsite Radiology and access to Laboratory services and a CT scanner (at Dunstan Hospital in Clyde).
In this role you will work in the ward and Emergency Department, where we see almost 10,000 people per year. Our patient population is young and international, the spectrum of disease seen here is hugely varied. At Lakes District Hospital you’ll be part of a team of 8 FTE rural hospital doctors and Medical Officers.
You will need to be a confident practitioner as your on-call backup may be up to 30 minutes away. An on call room is provided.
To be considered for this role you must be Vocationally Registered in Rural Hospital Medicine or Emergency Medicine (with appropriate rural experience) and hold the relevant current registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
