Midwife Leadership challenge with lifestyle to match
Charge Midwife Manager – Southland Hospital
Are you looking for a fresh challenge and the opportunity to develop and grow professionally? Are you inspired by the challenge of providing high quality care, and are ready to move into a more advanced leadership role?
As the Charge Midwife Manager, your leadership skills and credibility within the Midwifery profession are widely recognised - whether dealing with diverse groups of people or complex cases you make good decisions, lead your team and inspire positive change. You bring people together to deliver the best outcomes for the women and babies in our care.
Besides your inspirational leadership qualities, you also:
- Possess the ability to think outside the square, communicate effectively and promote best practice and standards of midwifery care
- Demonstrate sound professional judgement
- Have relevant knowledge of patient safety and resource management, including budgeting, equipment and staff management
- Demonstrate clinical quality, safety and best practice.
It goes without saying that you will be a Senior Registered Midwife, with extensive midwifery experience. You will have a current NZ APC, relevant post graduate qualifications and a sound understanding of the New Zealand Midwifery model of care.
We operate an 18-bed integrated unit handling approximately 1,200 births a year as part of a full range of primary and secondary maternity services. As the only secondary birthing unit in Southland, we offer inpatient and outpatient antenatal, delivery and postnatal services and a Lactation Consultancy Service.
We are based in Invercargill; however, most of our patients live in the wider Southland catchment, which adds a strong rural and community feel to our work.
We need a natural leader to drive positive change within our unit. Someone who ensures the service is responsive to the changing needs of our community and health system, and will champion Southern DHB’s ‘right care, right time, in the right place’ model. We are committed to our maternity unit providing the best care for women, their babies and whanau at this important time in their lives.
A LIFESTYLE LIKE NO OTHER
This is a challenging and exciting role in one of the most beautiful and untouched parts of southern New Zealand. We are surrounded by national parks, native bush and a beautiful rugged coastline. We are known for world class educational facilities (from primary right through tertiary), and a sense of community that many people long for, making us a great place to raise kids and create strong, enduring friendships. We’re only a short drive from the summer and winter playgrounds of Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Fiordland and the great Central Otago.
At the Southern DHB our values are Kind, Open, Positive and a sense of Community. We are looking for candidates who not only embody these values, but who can keep them alive and vibrant across their department and team.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Ready for your next challenge? Have you got the right mix of clinical skill and people leadership experience? We’d love to hear from you. Call or email us today. We will be screening applicants as they come in, so don’t delay.
