Mental Health Assistant – Ward 9c, Acute Mental Health

Wakari Hospital, Dunedin

 

  • Casual shifts on an ‘as and when required’ basis

 

Ward 9c is an Acute Mental Health Inpatient ward, providing care for the full range of general adult mental health disorders, including youth, mothers and babies, and eating disorders. We seek an enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant to join our team on a casual basis working shifts on an ‘as and when required’ basis.

 

Our Mental Health Assistants are key team members who assist our nursing and allied health staff to ensure an effective and efficient service.  As an Assistant working in Mental Health you’ll need to have a positive attitude and good communication skills, be able to take direction and work well as part of the team. 

 

As a casual employee you may be asked to work shifts over any of the seven days; mornings (7am start), afternoons (2.30pm start) and nights (10.45pm start). 

 

Our ideal applicant will be confident in providing support and assisting patients; display initiative; be patient focussed at all times, and be able to adapt to a changing environment.
