Administrator Officer - Patient Affairs & Enquires
- Permanent, Part-time 0.8FTE (32 hours per week)
Do you want to make a difference?
Are you an experienced administrator who is interested in or has a background in health? Or are you a new grad with a good general degree looking for a great job? If you’ve thought about starting a career in health but been put off because you don’t have a clinical background, then this role presents you with an excellent opportunity.
In Patient Affairs & Enquires you’ll work with a team that is, literally speaking, at the centre of the hospital. With an office in the main foyer of Dunedin hospital our knowledgeable staff respond to varied and sometimes challenging enquiries from patients and the public, from GPs, funeral directors, and other Health Agencies. Inside the hospital our team are involved with and work alongside all the on-site Clinical Departments, the Security Team, the Orderlies and Medical Records to name a few. The information they are trusted to handle is varied, confidential and often sensitive, such as death certificates, patient files and medical records, information requests and complaints.
This is not a job for the faint hearted, but it is a great job for someone who is adept at processing information, dealing professionally with all types of people, has confidence in their ability to think on their feet and is a skilled user of the Microsoft Office suite and has good IT skills.
On the job, we will give you a thorough orientation to the hospital and its many departments and introduce you to the broad array of external groups we work alongside. We’ll teach you all you need to know about the hospital’s internal IT systems and will support you while you learn the Privacy and Release of Information legislation that guides much of what we do.
In return, our expectations are that you will be a quick learner with an eye for detail and the ability to set your own priorities and goals. You’ll be a wonderful all-round person who gets on with everyone and doesn’t get flustered under pressure. And finally, you’ll be tech savvy and enjoy working with computer systems.
At Patient Affairs & Enquiries we work a rostered schedule between 7.30 am to 8 pm weekdays and 8 am – 8 pm weekends and public holidays so it’s important to us that you are available for these shifts.
If this sounds like the kind of role that would suit you please feel free to contact us and to apply on-line
Closing Date: Sunday, 19th November 2017.
