Service Administrator – Emergency and Internal Medicine

Dunedin Hospital


  • Permanent 1 FTE (40 hours per week)

We are looking for an exceptional administrator to support the Service Manager and wider Emergency and Internal Medicine service. This is a role that will provide the opportunity to demonstrate your outstanding coordination skills, your ability to work autonomously and also use your initiative.  This is a demanding role working with a high level of administration tasks and interfacing with a large multidisciplinary team.


This will be an interesting and challenging role for the successful candidate. You will be providing essential support for the Service Manager and overall functioning of the Emergency and  Medicine Otago ( which includes Cardiology, Renal, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology services ) including supporting Senior Medical Officers, coordinating and managing complaints, managing  diaries, timesheets, booking  meetings and travel, taking minutes, organising agendas, coordinating and processing reports, and compiling statistics, financial reports plus general administration.


The ideal candidate will have a background in a variety of high level administration positions, strong computer programme knowledge, good typing and excel skills, and possess the ability to prioritise and juggle tasks. You will also be customer focused, have a friendly disposition, well developed relationship management skills and be comfortable interacting with a variety of people at all levels of the organisation. Finding solutions to problems whilst under pressure are important facets of this role. Additionally you will be self-motivated with an ability to initiate and anticipate change along with flexibility in your thinking.
